We are delighted to invite you to a public exhibition on the ‘Generator’, a bespoke workspace hub next to the North Circular Road to be delivered as part of the new Grand Union development.
Following the granting of planning permission for Grand Union in September 2018, St George is preparing a Reserved Matters Application to agree the Generator’s detailed design. The exhibition will provide the community with an opportunity to see and comment on the proposals, with members of the project team on hand to answer questions.
The exhibition will be held at the Northfields Community Information Centre on Beresford Avenue at the following dates and times:
Friday 30 November 2.00pm – 6.00pm
Saturday 1 December 10.00am – 2.00pm
Northfields Community Information Centre Beresford Avenue HA0 1NW
With the overarching design for the development now complete, we have taken some time to consider what it should be named. The name will form a fundamental part of the development’s identity, so we wanted to ensure that it acknowledges both the site’s past and what this transformational change represents for its future.
The name that was felt to be most appropriate is “Grand Union”. We wanted to reference the famous canal along which the site is located and which is such a key part of the site’s history. The word “grand” conveys
a sense of scale and the word “union” aptly depicts the essence of the development – where people from both within the existing and new communities will come together to live, work and socialise.
On 18 July, Brent Council unanimously resolved to grant planning permission for the Northfields development. We are delighted – this is
a great culmination of a lot of work over the last year, in particular from the participation of the local community, through all the consultation events which made the proposals for Northfields – from the design of the community centre, to the open public spaces to the Route to Stonebridge Park Station plus so much more.
Preparations for this year’s Alperton Summer Festival are well underway! It will be taking place on the 7th July between 12 and 6pm.
We will again be raising money for local charity Sufra. Based on St. Raphael’s Estate, Sufra provides a life-line for people in crisis – including families living in extreme poverty and people who are vulnerable, homeless and socially isolated.
We hope to see you there for an afternoon of fun, live music and food, including performances from students at Alperton Community School, and local food from restaurants such as Brown Sugar. Entry is free!
The date for the 2018 Alperton Summer Festival has been confirmed! It will take place on Saturday the 7th of July between 12pm and 6pm, so be sure to save the date in your diaries!
Working towards the festival, we will be collaborating with local residents and school students to plan the activities, stalls and performances on offer to make this year’s festival better than ever.
Two workshops over the Easter holidays will be open to the community for you to come and create something that showcases your favourite parts of Alperton ahead of the festival, and as part of the community competition.
Tuesday 3 April – 11.00-16.00 – Workshop for families and young children
Wednesday 4 April – 15.00-18.00 – Workshop for young people aged 11-18
The workshops will both be taking place at the Northfields Community Information Centre, Beresford Avenue, HA0 1NW.
